Chopped off a wee bit of my thumb and nail. Now I have a sad little thumb. Actual thumb photo to your left.
But in good cooking news, it's Julia Child's 100th birthday. Even better if she were still alive. However, for me at least, she'll always be a force.
Oh, in that case you'll have to watch this:ReplyDelete
Not nice. When I read "and nail" I did a bit more than wince. I know it's a chefs hazzard but it still makes me cringe. Hope it goes wellReplyDelete
owch. That's why I avoid cooking. Give me dishwashing any day - much safer!ReplyDelete
Sorry about your thumb! Don't do that. You need that digit.ReplyDelete
bliss: I haven't seen that in a very long time. Appropriate and fun. Save those livers.ReplyDelete
I love that the phone didn't work because it was a prop. Good stuff.
Ian: I just took a little off the top. I'm told it will grow back. But the neatest thing, is that as soon as I cut myself the tip went numb and I didn't feel any pain.
However later that day when I bumped my thumb -- well, that really hurt.
mshatch: I got out of all the dishes last night :-)
Alex: I had my fingers tucked when chopping but somehow I lost focus and my thumb made way under the knife.
But I don't have to do dishes for awhile so there's my silver lining.
Oooh, sorry to hear about your injury! Hope it heals soon (I'm sure Tim will have some incantation for just that purpose!)ReplyDelete
Wow big terrible Ouch. Hope you are feeling better!ReplyDelete
Flea: Haha. He tells me it will grow back.ReplyDelete
BRENDAN: I tell ya, the neatest thing is it didn't even hurt at the time I first did it.
Cake: Hello you. I am feeling very well. Cheers and boogie boogie to you and your family.
Ow!! For the thumb. Did you see the movie Julie and Julia? It really made me appreciate Julia Childs and what she accomplished.ReplyDelete
Ouch! Hope you'll heal up soon!ReplyDelete
Ouch! I'm sorry to hear about your thumb. I hope it heals up fast!ReplyDelete
In the meantime, don't hesitate to use it as leverage to get Tim to do stuff for you. Start off your requests with "my thumb hurts" and he can't possibly say no.
"My thumb hurts, would you bring me a drink?"
"My thumb hurts, would you vacuum the floor?"
"My thumb hurts, would you buy me a new car?"
You get the idea. Make it work for you!
Poor thumb. Julia was one of a kind.ReplyDelete
eek makes me shudder. Hope it heals soon XX Enjoyed the Julia video. She is so funny :DReplyDelete
Yeow Ivy. Hmm, battle scars and severed digits. Now you are a true Chef. :-)ReplyDelete
Ouchers!! Here's to healing quickly!! Be careful my friend!ReplyDelete
That's rough stuff with your thumb. I would be sadder to lose part of my middle finger since I use it so much.ReplyDelete
Julia Child rocks. I remember her admonition that when it comes to cooking "You've got to take a 'What the hell' attitude towards things." I always feel like she's got my back in the kitchen, no matter how far off the rails things are going.
So sorry to hear about your thumb. Hope the throbbing goes away soon (because I know mine would throb if I had done that to my thumb!).ReplyDelete
That is the saddest thumb I have ever seen. Hope it gets better soon...it's hard to cook without a fully opposable thumb!!ReplyDelete
Oh, sweetie! You didn't have to get stitches, right?ReplyDelete
KarenG: Oh yeah, quite a few times. Almost watched it again this past Monday, only I couldn't coupon and watch. Just not that skilled.ReplyDelete
Glad the movie made you appreciate Childs. She's a force.
Anita: Thanks. How goes the artwork, today?
Bard: Hahahah. I did just that. Yesterday when I was on the couch I asked him to get me my juice water, saying that I couldn't because I was wounded.
Wounded, I say, wounded.
And, I don't have to do dishes.
Susan: She really was.
Niki: So happy to hear you watched it and enjoyed it. I've seen it several times and I still laugh.
David: Great to see you here. I laughed at the battle scars and severed digits. That's funny stuff.
Lo-mo: Will do, thanks bunches.
Kim: Thanks :-)
Endra: Welcome back. How was your trip? Are you happy to be home.
I almost added that quote when she says what the hell attitude.
Stacy: It's going real well. Just as long as I don't whack it against something.
Chuck: It's also hard to tie my shoes, eat corn on the cob and tie my apron.
Suzan: No stitches. Just wrapped.
Sounds painful! My Dad would say, "What did you wanna go and do that for?"ReplyDelete
Battle or kitchen scars are part of kitchen life, my hands are a testament to this, be proud of them.ReplyDelete
I watched a short documentary on her this morning!
So sorry to hear about your thumb! I did that while doing prep work slicing lemons...with an electric lemon slicer. My thumb slid just a little too far up on the lemon when I was about halfway through one of the lemons. The juice was not a nice addition to the cut :)ReplyDelete
Ray: That's a good thing to ask and my answer is, I dunno. Just wasn't focused and I let my thumb get under the knife.ReplyDelete
Lurker: You did? Very cool. Hope you were able to access the video on the blog. It's pretty funny.
Jess: Ouch, ouch, ouch. That sounds far worse. And lemon to boot.
I sliced off the tip of my index finger on a meat slicer (Not using the guard properly - let that be a lesson, kids.) and it grew back. It was only as thick as a slice of pepperoni, and it's now whiter than the rest of the finger, but it's round, not flat.ReplyDelete
Lloyd: Ouch, ouch, ouch. Though I appreciated your description of the tip of your finger being as thick as a slice of pepperoni.ReplyDelete
Thanks for stopping by.
Oh, no! Poor little thumb. I've had my share of mishaps with knives and scissors, too. Glad it was just a little bit!ReplyDelete
alexia: Was so great to see you posting again. Much congrats on all your hard work and FUN!ReplyDelete
Owwww... That's going to suck. A friend of mine actually cut a chunk of his thumb off at work with a meat slicer.ReplyDelete
They never found the thumb sliver. I hope it didn't end up in someone's sandwich...
Erg, I cringe for you and your poor thumb. Nice little band-aid face though, cute. ;o) Happy b-day to Julia Child, though she's not around to see it. She lives on through her recipes!ReplyDelete
DWei: Meat slicer, yikes.ReplyDelete
Carol: Long time no talk. Thanks for dropping by.
Ow ow ow ow ow, double ow with an ow on it.ReplyDelete
William: A few days have passed now, and it's MUCH better.ReplyDelete
Hope all is well with you.
Cheers and boogie boogie.
Ow! I'm glad it's on the mend. I love your blog make over!! I'm guessing this is one of your favorite holidays?ReplyDelete
Elsie: Oh yeah. Big holiday here. Good luck winning. I'm routing for ya.ReplyDelete
I figured as much. We love it too and this year I want to really decorate because last year we couldn't due to a landscaping project. Thanks for the rooting, I'm up against some very popular blogger chicks so my odds are uber low LOLReplyDelete
Wow that's rough. Sorry about your thumb. That SNL clip is actually one of my favorites. LOLReplyDelete
Elsie: Here's hoping you get to have fun decorating this year.ReplyDelete
Maurice: It's much better today. Thanks for dropping by.
