Boy ... I'm tired. It's the good end of a fun and full day in the kitchen kinda tired. Today's playtime included dehydrating mushrooms, deep cleaning the fridge and experimenting with homemade oat and cashew yoghurt. Really excited to see how the yoghurt turns out.
In other news, I finally pulled the trigger on a new air fryer. Well, sorta kinda. This time instead of a regular air fryer, I went with an air fryer lid. The lid itself is the air fryer (heating element + fan). The idea is that the lid sits on top of the pressure cooker, turning the instapot into an air fryer. The air fryer lid also works on pots, pans and skillets.
I'm not sure how well this will work but I am gonna have a blast giving it a go.
In other, other news, I crocheted my first bag. I'm still finishing the handle. So after that's done, I'll share photos.
And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print. Very, very sleepy. A good sleepy.
Chat with you tomorrow.
Huggs & Bugs, Me.
I didn't know there was such a thing.
ReplyDeleteHey River. They've been out for awhile now though I haven't been ready to pull the trigger. The air fryer I use as of this writing, has bottom and top heating elements and is much stronger in wattage. Still, curious to play. Do you air fry?
DeleteHave fun with your new air fryer! And I need to deep clean my fridge too. I must get on with doing that.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I love a clean fridge. I keep opening it to look inside. Have a great week, Debra!
DeleteYou've been very busy, no wonder you're tired. Interesting about the air fryer idea.
ReplyDeleteHey Boud! Just a regular day of mad scientist fun here at the lab. Insert evil laughter here ... muwhahahaha.
DeleteTrying to visualize the air fryer...but can't...Photo please? lol

Donna
Hi Donna. Tonight it will be in my hot little hands. Will post images next week. Gonna play, play, play. To help visualize, it's just a big lid that holds a fan and heating element. Sorta looks like a funky hat.
DeleteYou have some interesting times ahead with the new air fryer. And great food!
ReplyDeleteHey Marie. I cannot wait to play! PS: Loved your story telling. You write well!
DeleteI sure have missed you...You have been very busy which deserves a good nights rest for you....hope you get rested. I don't think I have heard of this fryer. Interesting...but I am guessing it will work GREAT. Yes, please post photos of your crocheted bag.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I got all good and rested. Back at the fun today. Lid getting used tonight. Cannot wait! The air fryer lids have been out for awhile. Though I wasn't ready. Now that my old air fryer is on her last legs, figured it was a good time to give it a go. Seen mixed reviews though. Curious to play. Will for sure post the bag and the air fryer lid. Loved your hearts!!!! So fun.
DeleteI love dehydrated mushrooms. It sounds like a fun day in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThey are fun to do. I love the in miso soup and other broth soupy things. What do you like to use yours in?
DeleteIt's good to hear from you. I bought Emil's air fryer in 2020. I use it a lot. I didn't know there is such a thing as an air fryer lid.
ReplyDeleteVery cool on your air fryer staying alive that long. That's amazing. Great to hear. The lid is a neat idea for sure. However, mine arrived damaged. Boooo.
DeleteHello Ivy, we enjoy our air fryer
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Christine!
DeleteI just got my first air fryer about 3 weeks ago. We're liking it! Hope this new version works out for you.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting your first air fryer. Very, very good. Happy Air Frying!
DeleteA bummer on my end, the air fryer lid, arrived damaged. Boooo.
Please do let us know about the air fryer lid. I thoroughly enjoy my Instant Pot, but don't have enough room for more appliances.
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy. The update is that the lid arrived damaged. Boooooo. There are other brands and lids out there. Only this time I want to get it from a store with a door.
DeleteLovely to see this post.
ReplyDeleteHave fun using your new air fryer.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan. Happy Weekend.
DeleteHappy new year both for 2025 and also for the start of the year of the snake. Your yogurt sounds great. Let us know how it tastes, and have fun with your air fryer. :)
ReplyDeleteHomemade is wonderful. Got more on now fermenting as I type. It's very, very easy and good! The air fryer lid, sadly, arrived damaged. The hunt continues ...
DeleteHope the air fryer lid works. Never heard of one that was just the lid. We have one of those large air fryers that does everything.
ReplyDeleteHey Alex. They've had them out for awhile, I finally pulled the trigger and the update is, it arrived damaged.
DeleteI've never heard of an air fryer lid. It'll be interesting to hear how that works.
ReplyDeleteI was excited to play and then the lid arrived damaged. The hunt continues. Next time though, I buy from a store with a door.
DeleteI need to do the fridge cleaning. Never a fun job!
ReplyDeleteDid you get the fridge done? I love it when it's all clean and everything right there.
DeleteNever heard of such a thing. Keep us informed if it works well!
ReplyDeleteHey Cheryl. They've been out for awhile now only it took me a long time to pull the trigger. Bummer for me though, it arrived damaged. Back it goes. The next one I get will be from a store with a door.
DeleteHope it works. The only thing I ever crocheted was a baby blanket for my grandson. Took me forever.
ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy making it?
Deleteso happy to see you pop up. and sad to hear no access to email, be sure to update us on the air fryer LID. never heard of such a thing. Now I have
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, I really don't use email all that much. I actually go back to the blogs when folks comment there.
DeleteRest well my friend, I was happy to see you. Your new fryer sounds like a little magic machine :) you are going to have a lot of fun with that. Looking forward to seeing your new bag when you get the chance. Take good care of yourself and sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Bag is done now. Though the bag part is a tad longer than I wanted. Was fun to do though. Happy Weekend to you!
DeleteI hope you got good sleep. Sounds like fun at your house!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Was a fun day.
DeleteI've seen those air-fryer lids for the IP.. Keep us posted how well they work, Sounds like you did a lot of work and deserve a good sleep.
ReplyDeleteNinja too, which is cool for folks that one one tool to do more. The lid however arrived broken so back it went. Was an off-brand.
DeleteI have never heard of an air fryer lid! As I don't have a slow cooker, I will be really interested in how it works on a pot.
ReplyDeleteThe one that arrived showed up damaged. It did fit on my cast iron skillet though. I was excited to see how it went too. Now back to the hunt for another one. Cheers and Happy Weekend.
DeleteI had a really nice air fryer but it took up tons of room. It could used as a regular oven also. However, when I moved a yr ago, my stove does the regular baking, it is also a convention oven, an air fryer....I think that is it!! lol....So I gave my big Cuisinart air fryer to my future granddaughter in law, (is that a term?). I also gave her my instant pot. I only cooked chicken in it for the dogs and was not a fan of it. Although, I have a couple of friends that cook just about every meal in them. Sorry, been a while since I have been around to visit.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam. I love that you were able to home your old one and enjoy the new setup you have. I get that about the instapot. I do use mine a lot. So much so that I have a mini and an extra large one. But if I wasn't using it much, I'd do the same as you and give it away as well. Kinda frees up the kitchen to focus on the tools/toys we do use. I'm all for that!
DeleteNot heard of that sort of air fryer before but it will be interesting to see how well it works. Shame it was damaged on arrival and hope a replacement works just right for you. I do love a bit of crochet and your bag sounds like a great (nearly)finished project. Looking forward to the pics.
ReplyDeleteI ended up returning that brand and going with a store with a door and a different brand. This way, it's easier to return. It's neat because the lid itself can go on other pots and pans. The heating element and fan are in the lid. Should be fun.
DeleteCrocheting is fun. I ended up finishing that bag and also making a smaller one. I used the smaller crossbody strap bag when I went out this week. Very, very nice little bag.
