When I go to the market I'm always on the hunt for a new ingredient. Spice, herb (fresh or dried), fruit, vegetable, it doesn't matter. Just something new and fun to play with.

I should explore new foods more than I do. I'm quite conservative.

DeleteRarely do I experiment but I tolerate my husband's adventuresome whims when they come up from time to time. Not sure why I don't experiment more, if I'm too lazy to try new recipes or if I'm too afraid of new flavors?

DeleteI tried Indian food awhile back, but, while good, it all tasted like curry (except for the mint chutney, which was very nice). To clarify, I generally eat Japanese style curry dishes, so I was expecting a bit more difference in flavor, however, it seems that Punjabi-style cuisine uses the same batches of spices. I also had the lamb, but it tasted like beef to me *shrug*

DeleteI recently tried lamb for the first time.
I generally stick with the tried and true. But, like Christine, I do have a sister who always loves to experiment. Recently she grew her own wheat and old fashioned corn, so we got to try some of her fresh baked foods straight from the field. Another time my mom grew sugar beets, and we had sugar beet molasses.
ReplyDeleteWow. All of those things sound killer good. I've grown heirloom organic corn before and wow, it's amazing. I ate some of it raw and loved it. How about you?

DeleteI love trying new foods as long as it doesn't fall into what I define as gross. Slimy type foods certainly qualify.

You know, I honestly can't. I try new stuff regularly and can't remember the latest. But brussel sprouts, for example, is something that I didn't eat up until a year ago. True!
DeleteMy range of foods is pretty extensive anyway Ivy, if I come across new foods I try them, but I no longer go out of my way to do so. Hey I heard you can buy cricket flour near here, yes I do mean crickets. Have you tried that one Ivy?

DeleteThere's not much I won't eat. My favorite place to browse is the ethnic grocery store. SO MANY new-to-me items!
