I believe that the dog picks the owner, not the other way around. And that's just what happened, four years ago today when I waited in the shelter yard. Here she came, running and full of life. Plowed into me with the biggest hug, then flopped on her back, off for a quick pee and bam, right back with another hug.
The worker said, "I've never seen a dog do that before."
Tim named her Wiggy because she wiggled so much as a pup that she'd fall over. And she still wiggles all the time. This is one happy, happy pup. Her hobbies include digging holes, snuggling, stealing Tim's socks and punching her sister.
And you've been a blessing to each other!
ReplyDeleteEven if Tim's socks all have holes.
Agreed :-)
DeleteShe looks so happy. What a cutie.
ReplyDeleteShe is one of the happiest dogs, we've ever meet. She wakes happy, goes through her day with a great outlook. Truly, truly a happy dog.
DeleteOh my gosh she's precious! Good for you for adopting from a shelter.
ReplyDeleteWe only get pound dogs. That's the only way we do things in our house.
DeleteShe so cute and so innocent looking while digging holes!
ReplyDeleteRight, like what hole? No hole. I didn't do it.
Deleteshe looks so happy! lucky dog.
ReplyDeleteShe's always been a real happy pup.
DeleteHappy anniversary, Wiggy! Alice sends you a snuggle and a puppy-kiss :)
ReplyDeleteWiggy sends puppy kisses and hugs, right back to Little Alice. Congrats on hitting your goal too. Wonderful.
DeleteHappy happy post :-)
ReplyDeleteIan
Thanks.
DeleteHappy anniversary, Wiggy!
ReplyDeleteAll of our critters chose us....
They do. I believe that.
DeleteOh yeah! I love all the pics, especially the last one with the precious smile. What a darling.
ReplyDeleteThanks, that last one cracks me up.
DeleteI miss having a dog but... Wiggy looks a fun dog to have around.
ReplyDeleteShe is a goof ball, and we love it.
DeleteWiggy is adorable - just love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks, Jan.
DeleteSuch a cutie!
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteAh:) I agree with you, Ivy. Some animals have an instant affinity for certain individuals.
ReplyDeleteIt's what we believe, that they pick us. Glad to read that your Hubby is feeling better. What a whirl ride for date night.
DeleteLove this post! Such a wonderful thing to do. And may I say, your pooches are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy's Eyeball. I love that picture.
DeleteThanks. And I should stop yelling (in capitals)
DeleteI remember my dog's sock-stealing days. She's rather old now, so she looks at a sock like "boring".
ReplyDeleteSorry she lost her fun. Our last dog played and had fun right up to the end.
Delete:)
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteI love Wiggy!
ReplyDeleteI mean, I love all dogs, and I especially love my own, but I really adore Wiggy. So darn cute, fun, and every bit a dog.
Give her a hug for me, a one for Bug so the little one doesn't feel left out.
Thanks, Barking Alien - Nice to see you and I send Wiggy your hug and good wishes. One for the little one too.
DeleteWiggy is a smart dog for picking you and Tim for her family. Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteShe is no dumb dumb.
DeleteHow's it feel to be back online and connected again? That trip sounded very loud, all those chicks in one room. Yikes.
I'm happy to be back home (connected or not). Yeah, it's quieter here, but it really wasn't that noisy at the retreat. When writers get together, they tend to...write. :)
DeleteI'm funny with smells and noises. And if those 11 chicks all had different shampoos, stinky perfumes, clothing smells and all that, forget it. I'd have to leave. Well, I wouldn't go in the first place because I'm not interesting in retreating with that many people.
DeleteMe. Alone. Writing Desk. Happy.
What a smart puppy to pick you out.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine what a cute puppy she was.
Sure I have mentioned before how much I love that header photo of Wiggy. Adore the name Bug.
I named my first Scotty, Kirby after the vacuum cleaner because everything on the floor was hers.
I think I will write about this on Friday.
cheers, parsnip
I would love to read more about Kirby. Yes, thanks. I had to bring the header back for her four year mark.
DeleteYay! Happy Anniversary Wiggy!
ReplyDeleteShe's a good one. How goes your Little Monster? When are you headed out to France. What is your favorite thing to eat when you're there?
DeleteI agree. Dogs, and even cats, pick their people. When you've been chosen it's for life.
ReplyDeleteShe's a pretty dog. Love her eyes.
Sia McKye Over Coffee
Hi Sia - Yes, those are wonderful. She takes great pictures, that one. I agree, cats too. Really, I personally feel that way for all animals, they pick us.
DeleteThe Wigster looks like one happy dog!
ReplyDeleteShe really is, thanks for dropping in. Thought about you today, wondered how the taxes were going?
DeleteIvy I just want to confirm... you are talking about your dog this time, right? hahaha
ReplyDeleteHa! Yes, Wiggy is the dog, Frankenberry is the Husband and Bug is the little dog. Poopyhead and Smoochie Face, are also Hubby.
DeleteAwwww...
ReplyDelete:-)

Yay for Wiggy!
Birdie - You are the BEST. I love this. I just emailed it to a few of my friends to show them what you did.
DeleteThanks for the best comment of the day. You rock.
*whispers* Don;t tell ANYONE. It is a cut and paste.
DeleteI don't care, it still rocks and so do you. Super thoughtful and fun. Also, just like you.
DeleteThanks bunches.
Soooooo adorable! Such a sweetie-pie.
ReplyDeleteOur dog Sox, may she rest in peace, picked us out at the shelter. I'll never forget it. She's been gone 3 years now, and I'll never forget any of it. :)
I share your pain. I really do. After Peanut died, it took us awhile to get Wiggy. I didn't think my heart had anymore room but turns out, I was happily mistaken.
DeleteI love to hear that you got Sox at the shelter. That is the best, I think. I'd love to hear your story, too. I love those kinds of things.
You feeling any better today?
Sigh, not much. Still sick, and The Man left work and took himself to the emergency room for some tests. Waiting to hear is the worst. Could use some good juju around here.
ReplyDeleteOh no. Very sorry to hear this. Good gosh, you guys keep gettin' hit. Sending all the good healthy wishes I have, your way.
DeleteOhmygosh! This is a heart hugger. Love this post. I got a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Damn... *sniff* She's so cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks. She's a real keeper. What a sweetie and all of that is true. She was ours, day one.
