HELLO NEW DECLUTTERING WEEK (ready to rumble in 3..2..1..)

On today's decluttering docket are tools (I build tables), wood, Annie Sloan chalk paint, regular people paint and cleaning supplies.

I'll start with the paint, which shouldn't take long. Everything gets pulled off the shelves and only paint related items of value and usefulness gets to stay.

Everything else goes bye bye.

Wash, rinse and repeat with the rest of the categories mentioned and if it all gets done by end of the day, great.

If not, that's okay too.

Either way, it's gonna be a good decluttering day because I'm in the mood to kick some Monday butt.

Big time.

    1. Hi Ginny. Boud below said it helps her stress. I'm glad it helps you with your stress.

Yes, I did this a decade ago and got rid of 90 percent of my stuff. I go by category and that really helps streamline things. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your week!

  6. Sounds like you have a good system. I so need to declutter but every time I try I get too overwhelmed by all the mess and I quit.

    1. I really do, Ann. By category is the ONLY way I roll. It makes it easy to do one category and be done and move to the next one later or another day. It really, really helps keeps things simple. Like one day, I did all my yarn. I got all my yarn and yarn-related stuff and put it in one pile. I pulled out what I love, is useful and of value to me and I gave away the rest. And that's one category, done and dusted. Maybe that way would work for you?

  14. Happy decluttering day! I often find minimalism clashes with hobbies, how 'bout you?

    1. Hi Abby. Thank you for the Happy Decluttering Day!

Minimalism and hobbies is an interesting topic that I'd like to dig deeper in. For myself, I'm not a minimalist however, there are parts of it I enjoy. For me, hobbies are and have always been a part of my life since I was wee little. And since The Great Declutter of 2016 I've picked up many new hobbies. I don't ever imagine that changing so what I do is, I make room for what I love to do.

I have stations for different hobbies. A sewing nook, a shared office with Smoochie Face and my side is the photography studio. I have an art and writing desk, a dough station and so on. I find the stations are a great fun.

That said, this is an excellent topic that I'd love to dig more into and hear more from you about as well.

  24. So glad to hear you're all ready to go this week on the de-cluttering. That's really good of you to be working on this project. So many people just give up on it, so here's to you for treading along! You will be relieved and happy when you're done. I'm still doing a little day by day too. I wish you a terrific March week!

    1. Hey Sheri! Thanks for your great comment about re-decluttering. I did this back in 2016 when I got rid of 90 percent of my stuff. It was LOVELY. So a decade later, I'm doing a re-declutter and doing it the same way as I always do. By category. It is sooo nice. Get a category done, do a little boogie dance and then onto the next category. Wishing you lots of fun in your decluttering as well. Just so nice to do this. Cheers, Ivy.

  26. It always feels good when you've gone through everything and you know you're not keeping things just for the sake of it. We had a huge declutter when we moved house four years ago but I think we're ready for another, especially my craft room.

When you say you're not inspired. Is there something particular holding you back from a declutter? Anything I can help with?

  29. You my Dear, are the best Butt Kicker in the world!
I am trying to crank up some energy to do a little of that myself.
Our weeds loom large in our yard ... that's the major job for weeks to come. At our ages Dave and I can only do a little at a time ... BUT ... It will get done!
