HAULING ASS, HEXAGONS & WORDY WORDLESS WEDNESDAY #21 (+ new banner day)

I'm hauling ass this week to finally finish my re-declutter. The last time I did a declutter this BIG and went through every category all in one swooop, was during The Great Declutter of 2016. A decade later I'm doing a re-declutter by category and it's going well.

Real well.

In other news, dig my new Creative Grids 60 Degree Equilateral Triangle used for hexagons (and other shapes). It's so cool. Friday I'm getting the XL Stripology one which does a million things, like makes patches, jelly rolls and triangles at bionic speed.

But, if you wanna see how make hexagons with the 90 degree ruler seen below, here's a video from The Sewing Studio .

In other, other news, dig these flannel fat quarters from Dollar Tree. Some of the Dollar Tree fabric sucks and some doesn't. Win some. Lose some. And while I LOVE my local quilt shoppe the most, I also wanted hexagon practice flannel from Dollar Tree. For a buck twenty-five, I can hexagon my heart out before moving to the quilting fabric.

And that my Boogerbutts is all that's fit to print. Thanks for reading and I'll be back as soon as I'm done with The Great RE-Declutter of 2026.

  1. Love the 'sewing break' cartoon! I admire a gal who can declutter the whole house without losing heart. Can you come by when you are finished? I'll bake a cake...x K

  4. So you have had a clean up and over it now.
You are lucky to buy fabric, we only have one place that sells it down here - no choice at all.

  5. I rarely go in that store but I don't recall ever seeing fabric.
Did you really accumulate that much in the past ten years?

    1. Hey Alex. It's not about accumulation. It's about value and usefulness of an item.

  6. WOW a whole hour of cleaning without a sewing break. I'm impressed. The Dollar Tree fabric is good for practicing on. Better to mess up the cheap fabric than the expensive quilting fabric.

    1. That's true, Boud. It really comes down to that and what adds value and usefulness and what doesn't. Thank you. Yes.

One of my Dollar Trees only has felt quarters. And then two of my other Dollar Trees have fat quarters. Both places that have them, the fabric is on a higher shelf in these little boxes. I'd love to hit a BIG Dollar Tree and see what they have.

It is though, hit or miss with some of the fabric. Though overall, happy they have it

How great is it to shake things off and see what we want to keep and what we don't. I didn't finish yet, I'm way slow, but nearly there. How goes your decluttering?

  13. I seem to be in a constant decluttering. Either I have a LOT or I don't do a good job to begin with. I like the new header and the cartoon. Ivy.

    1. Thanks about the cartoon and header! Yes, it can be a lot for sure. And that's why I break it down by category. Helps keep me on track and the sewing machine, baking, photography and all other hobbies can easily pull me away. lol.

  16. I have not seen a seam since 1959 when I ripped the dress I was making in half in home ecomincs class and got and F. How Mean she was. LOVE the shot of the flannel, and I had no idea they have flannel in Dollar Tree, of course have not been in a year. I truly do not know what a hexagon is or how to use one. What I do know is I love to come here and see how HAPPY you are with all your fun tasks, and enjoy your joy that comes out of your post each time I come...

    1. I tell you, Jackie. I go slow too. It's taken me way longer than had planned. I do also stop and make stuff so that's part of it. But I give myself some grace. I'm okay with being slow because I'm in the right direction. And if we're in the right direction, then good on both of us. Wishing you a yummy weekend.

  24. The flannel fabric is gorgeous! I'd be making a blanket or a coat. I am also re-decluttering, with a slightly different style. I decluttered my books shelves, but now have an extra two dozen books from a neighbour who decluttered HER bookshelves, and my method now is to read each one and then donate it to a community library.

    1. Thanks, River. I didn't get too much of this kind but blankets I make a lot of them. Used to have a blanket business back in the day when the world was flat. Would LOVE the make not a coat but something that I can wear when chilly. Though I don't have enough of these fat quatres at the moment for anything too big. Though I've been back twice to check to see if more arrived.

Great job on the books. That's a fun category to declutter. That's neat that you're going to read them all. I hope that works for you. It sounds like a big job but it also sounds like a fun one too! Very cool. Thanks for sharing that with us and Happy Reading.

    1. Very, very cool on the cotton yarn washcloths. That's what I'm doing with the cotton fabric. Plus reusable makeup remover pads and napkins. We barely at all use paper towels anymore. What a savings! Agree, DT is for sure a hit or miss. I see that in the fat quarters. For sure.

  29. How wise to practice on cheap fabric first. What would we do without Dollar Stores?

I love your post and how creative you are. Good thinking to get the cheaper fabric to practice on.
Oh DeClutter... man, I sure need to do that but its going to be one drawer or closet at a time. eBay is presenting a massive clutter in our home, but we gotta do what we gotta do !!!
    Have a great weekend.

I get that. I started with the closet/draw/clothes this go around. Took me awhile, I am slow at it but that's okay if it takes awhile. At least the direction is going the right way.

      Here's to decluttering!!!!!

  32. Good to hear your de-cluttering is going well. It takes time for sure, but it's so worth it. I like that red flannel fabric. It's such a talent when one sews. My mom was a great seamstress and sewed many of my clothes growing up. Happy March, my friend!
