WORDLESS WEDNESDAY #14 (only it's really hard to have no words two weeks in a row, so there's that. Also I started a new hobby ... again)

Is that a long blog title or what? I'm making up for lost words.

In other news, over our 11-day Christmas Staycation I got taller legs for my bench and now my dough station is in constant use. I'm a noodle-making mad scientist with dried noodles everywhere, just like I learned from my Mamam (pronounced, Mum Mum).

Here's a photo of some of my noodles. I never use eggs in my dough. I use things like parsley, yams, potatoes, sprouted spelt, beets, 00 flour, semolina, bean flours, lentil flour, sorghum, millet, quinoa and more.

Crazy fun.

For those interested, Pasta Grannies on YouTube is an excellent show. Clicking the words Pasta Grannies goes to the channel where Nonna's are filmed kneading, rolling, filling and shaping all kinds of pasta.

I LOVE this channel.

In other, other news, shown in the last photo, I started a new hobby ...

    1. Hi Ginny. Thank you. That bowl is a giant made in France tart pan that I also use for baking rolls, cookies and other fun things. Very nice. Naturally non-stick. Doesn't even need baking paper.

And I'm sure they're delicious too.
It's almost like quilting; once you start, you can't stop... the best part is, you just keep getting better.
    Hug and thank you.

I do love and admire your pasta you made, well done.

  6. I am totally IMPRESSED! The pasta looks beautiful in the photo and I am thinking this would be so good for my IBS diet.. I can barely cook pasta someone else makes, so the idea of making it is not anything I could do... you can burn the candles while you photograph the pasta you make, and now I ponder what will come next after the candles... you are sooo talented.. color me jealous

    1. Hi Sandra! A fun thing to do as well, making noodles at home and we get to control the types of flours used. I don't use eggs for mine but if you do, please give Pasta Grannies a watch. Great resource of wonderful women. Just love that channel.

Ceramics. At some point in life, I want to make my own bowls and cups. That won't be for awhile though. Next thing I'm on is getting the work room ready to shoot videos of me making foods.

  7. Pasta looks great. My wife has made homemade pasta before but she's never dried it, we just cooked and ate it right away. I'll tell her about that channel.

    1. Such a great channel, Alex. Also, I freeze my cavatelli and that works well. I dry them some, lay them loose on a baking tray with paper and then when each one is frozen, into either a bag or glass that is freezer-safe. Great food in a pinch. Cook from frozen in boiling salted water. My frozen ones take longer than fresh to cook. Both are yummy.

  8. I have never made my own pasta. Yours looks good, such a nice variety.
Candle making sounds like fun. I remember when I was growing up I got a candle making kit for Christmas one year. My brother used to make his own candles.

    1. So great, Lori! I would love that too. How great would that be to go there.

The candles are fun. Made two so far and one is unscented and burning. The other is sugar cookie and waiting a full two weeks to cure. If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, so far every other week, wax is 40% off. This week 40% is off. Now I'm not sure I'll keep going there vs find an online supplier. For now, I wanted to start with a little bit. So far, I've used the Makesy (spelling?) virgin coco soya wax. Got the brick. With sale, 10.79. Normal price, 18 bucks.

    3. Anytime. Really fun. Each day I open the lid and smell the sugar cookie and it's neat to smell the development. Cannot wait to light it. Very cool that you wanna make your own too. Sooo nice, to sit and know, hey, that's my candle!

    1. Garbanzo beans work excellent in noodles. I've used raw cooked and mashed them in and gram (chickpea), flour. Both work well. You get all those great Misfit ingredients that would work well in noodle dough. So fun.
